Broadway Market has experienced fluctuating fortunes over the years. Originally a busy fruit and veg market, this waned and by the turn of the millenium there was very little activity along this street. However, in 2004 volunteers from the Broadway Market Traders' and the Residents' Association established a food market and have watched it flourish. It is now so popular that the street is closed to traffic when the market is being held and is considered to be the most successful community market in London.
