Famous for its numerous curry houses, Brick Lane actually now stands for so much more. Amongst its varied, eclectic and historically significant streets are increasing numbers of designers, artists, galleries, numerous restaurants and clubs. The Truman Brewery, half way along Brick Lane is a great example of this. Closed as an operating brewery in 1988 it has since been converted into a home to an arts and events centre, various shops and bars, creative businesses and bi-weekly fashion markets.
